It was March in 1999 in Munich. I was bored stiff. So I thought to me, What can
I do? Then i had an idea. I can search my radio and my old BayCom-Modem. So I can
make Packet-Radio. A week later I found all equipment I needed to do PR.
But now, I have a big problem, What frequency I can use. After a few hours
of searching and listening I found a frequency which I can use.
Now comes the moment I was waiting for in days. I go in #Packet Radio Network.
The first time for about 7 months or so. After I've read my countless messages
I was bored stiff again. So I looked a little bit around in the European Packet Radio
Network. Then i found a Digipeater, HB9F-14. What was this? Why is there only a HB9F-14
and not a HB9F without any number? I had no idea.
Well, I connected this DIGI. And then I have seen it. It was an Internet-Gateway.
Ahh, Chatrooms. I can talk to other Radioamateurs, great. My boring time is
gone. After a few minutes I've found a Chatroom with the topic 'INYA International Net of
Young Amateurs'. Good, more in my age, sounds good. After a while I got a connect to this
room. I've said only hello world and know answers over answers. Everyone wanted to know: Who
I am. Where I am from. How old I was and manny more information. I was in this room for a
few hours (my longest chat).
On the next day I was there too. But that day I meet Mike(VE3HIP) first time. He
told me what INYA is and what he does in this organisation and more and more.
At this moment I meet Mike every day on Channel 90.
Channel 90 is an other word for Chatroom for INYA. In June or so, I was bored
again, I've said to mike I need vacation but i have no idea where and when. Then Mike
asked me whether i wanted make my vacation in Canada (Lake Erie) where Mike lives.
He said I must only pay the flight. I could stay at his family houses.
In August I flought to Mike. He've said he fetch me from the Airport in Toronto.
When I arrieved in Toronto, Mike wasn't here. I was waiting for 2 hours I think.
After I have called his mom on the phone mike arrived with his friend John.
It was great two weeks in Canada. We did manny things. We visited the
Niagara Falls and much more. Too much to tell it here. On 26th of August an
other friend from germany arrived, it was Alex. Alex and I made a trip
to New York without Mike. After visiting New York I flought back to munich.
It where very great two weeks in Low Banks.
