Drake R4C Noise Blanker project.

Like many people I own a Drake R4C without the desirable noise blanker option. I have seen several variations of noise blankers which can be added to the R4C to get around the problem, all seem to require some degree of modification to the radio which in my case I am not willing to consider. It seemed to me that since the space for the original Drake noise blanker is available together with the interconnection socket it made a lot of sense to utilise these. Having borrowed an R4C NB to examine, it was clear that the circuit and board are both very simple, and yet in many cases very effective. I made the decision to produce my own R4C noise blanker board using the Drake model as a pattern.

So far the boards have been produced. I have a limited quantity of these available and if you are considering the construction of a noise blanker for your R4C I would be happy to sell you one, or two even. Contact me for details.

The blue arrows show where two additional holes will need to be drilled. The four red arrows show where adjacent track areas are touching and will need to be cleaned with either a knife or Dremel type tool.
