HIARC Field Day 2017

Members of the Harris-Intersil Amateur Radio Club (HIARC) will be participating in the national Amateur Radio Field Day exercise, June 24-25, at the Grant Seafood Festival grounds, 4580 1st Street, Grant Florida. Since 1933, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skill of Amateur Radio. This event is open to the public and all are invited to attend.

Amateur Radio ? sometimes called ham radio ? allows people from all walks of life to experiment with electronics and communications techniques, as well as provide a free public service to their communities during a disaster, all without needing a cell

phone or the Internet. Field Day demonstrates ham radio?s ability to work reliably under any conditions from almost any location and create an independent communications network. Over 35,000 people from thousands of locations participate in Field Day each year.

Field Day is part educational event, part operating event, part public relations event ? and ALL about FUN!" The HIARC station will be operational from 2:00 PM Saturday, June 24 to 2:00 PM Sunday, June 25. Information displays will explain how to get an amateur radio license, setup a station and get on the air. We invite you to visit our site, learn about amateur radio and even get some hands on experience operating our "Get on the Air" (GOTA) radio station. Come on out and join us!
