Subject:      QST...QST...HIARC Field Day Results

Here's the HIARC Field Day results,

Despite the rain and lightning, we had a good Field Day.  We were operating under the shelter at the Boy Scout campground at Whickham Park.  We got started a few minutes after 2:00 p.m.  We had a c.w. station and voice station with a tri-band beams (A3 and TA-33 junior) and 30 ft towers.  Later in the evening, we put up 40 and 80 meter dipoles and a 40 meter delta loop.  We also had a 40 thru 10 meter loop for the GOTA station.  Packet was on a Diamond vertical on a 20 ft. pole and the 2 meter simplex was on a Ringo on a 10 ft. tower section.   We had a human powered generator, solar power, and a windmill.

We ran off my Generic 4 kw generator.  I never shut it down.  I just keep putting gas in it.  We had a TS440, TS120, FT-847, and TS940 that we used.  We had three laptops for logging.  We had another generator as a backup.  We also had spare beams and wire antennas.

We had two boys that operated for the first time on the GOTA station.  I think they are going to become hams.

We had a nice article and photo in the Sunday paper.  We also had about a dozen visitors.

We learned a lot about Field Day.  We hadn't had one in a number of years.  Everyone wants to have another one next year and we are going to learn from this one what we need to improve on.

Thanks to Butch's wife who provided sandwiches and others who donated drinks.  Thanks to everyone who participated.

Results:

Category 2A:   Two H.F. transmitters, GOTA station, V.H.F. station, packet.

453 QSOs for the voice station.

18 QSOs for the GOTO station

2 QSOs for the VHF station

1 QSOs for the Packet station.

We did receive data from a satellite but did not make a connection through it.

I still have to calculate the points and send them in.
