March Business Meeting

Thursday, March 12, 2009.

Club Officers were elected. They are the same as last year. A very BIG thank-you is due to those who agreed to devote the time and energy to running the club for another year.

The next activity on our calendar is the BARC Hamfest. This is a big money maker for our club and we need your help to pull it off. Saturday morning is busiest time.

The date for the club picnic was set. It is April 25th. Actually it is a day in the park with ham radio and a picnic thrown in for good measure. Bring the family. We still need to confirm the date with the fire company, but no problems are expected.

At the last meeting the question came up as to what was the best day for our club business meetings. Based on the replies from our survey we will try a new day and see if participation increases. The next business meeting will be Friday, May 1, 2009. It is the same time and place, just a different day. This is an experiment. Any permanent change will come after we see how many members attend. The program meeting in April is not changed.

The preliminary plans for Field Day were discussed. The feeling was for something much like our previous field days. It will probably be two transmitters. Since our ambitions are big and our manpower short, we will probably not put up a VHF/UHF station or the tri-band yagi this year. Stay tuned for more on this.
