February Club Meeting

Thursday,   February 12,   2009.

We set up two laptop computers.   Then we got the propagation prediction program running on both.   We had a "lecture" that explained the essentials of ionospheric propagation so that we understood the numbers that the program needed.   Soon we were making predictions to everywhere.   The neat feature of this program is that we can change the factors that affect the signal strength at the other station.   We changed power,   antenna gain,   antenna height,   terrain,   local noise levels,   and bandwidth and instantly saw its effect.   Then we applied our new found knowledge to the problem of how to work Alaska during Field Day.   Yep,   we now know how to do it.   Hey,   Field Day Committee   -   you have been notified.
