June Club Meeting

June 12,   2008.

This was our Get Ready For Field Day program.   The goals for this meeting was to get together and build the Carolina Windom antenna,   set up a station and check it out and to get the transceiver and logging computer talking to each other.   Our information was that the antenna was a bag of parts.   We would have to build an antenna from these parts.   It did come in a plastic bag,   but was completely assembled and ready to go.   So we pulled it up between a friendly tree and the BBQ pavilion.   It worked great.   So we had lots of time left to set up the computer control.   After a lot of button pushing,   the IC-735 and the N3FJP logging program never did talk to each other.   It did work with the Ham Radio Deluxe program.   We are still thinking about that one.   Ralph,   N3KZS,   took some good pictures of the evening.   Thanks Ralph.

Antenna Planning It is agreed.   We will run the Carolina Windom that direction.
Laying out the Carolina Windom First we stretch out the wire.
Feedline Then we connect the feedline.
Committee meeting The Design Review Board approves the installation.
Don't Ask Don't even ask.
BBQ Pavilion is safe We have never lost a BBQ pavilion during field day.   Practice makes perfect.
Equipment Except for the tower and a generator,   we had enough equipment for field day.

After we were completely exhausted at trying to get the computer/transceiver connection working (so what is new) and we ate all of the refreshments (so what is new) we disbanded for the evening.   See you at Field Day
