February Club Meeting

Thursday,   February 14,   2008.

The program for the evening was how the local terrain affects the radiation patterns of our antennas.   There was a small turn out,   so the "lecture" part was shelved.   We used the program High Frequency Terrain Assessment by N6BV to do the hard work.   We just looked at the results.   We had a terrain profile for our Field Day site stored on the computer.   Hundreds of antennas and antenna heights were analyzed during the evening.   Ain't computers great!

This evening's program was aimed at problems with HF signals.   VHF troposcatter would probably fit into this category also.   VHF terrain problems,   as in FM simplex and repeaters,   take a slightly different approach.   We will get into that at a later meeting.   Yes,   there is a neat program to this also.
