This was a very busy meeting. There was a lot of business to take care of. Here are the highlights.
The BARC Hamfest went well. BARC was pleased with our work. Our pay was higher than previously agreed because of the additional work we had to do. The check has been deposited in the club treasury.
We have now had two months where the entire meeting is devoted to some sort of program about ham radio. No business is conducted. The comments so far are very encouraging. The February meeting meeting and the April meeting were very well received by the members. The June meeting program ties in with Field Day.
The Repeater Tour and Club Picnic planning was completed. The club approved money for food and drinks. This club does eat well.
Field Day is the item that took up most of the time. There was a lot of details to be worked out. The club voted to purchase a set of harmonic filters. These will allow two co-located transmitters to operate at the same time and not interfere with each other. Money for food and miscellaneous supplies were approved. Did I mention that this club eats well? There is a lot of enthusiasm this year. It looks like we will have demonstrations of a packet node, APRS, solar power, satellite and slow scan television (SSTV). Don't forget two stations running 24 hours of contest operation. See the Field Day page for details.
Not much planning to do for Bingo. We expect the same operation as in previous years. MUCH help is needed to pull this off. Please mark you calendar now.
The club plans no organized participation in MDC QSO Party.
The big problem for our Mini Tail Gate Fest is that Carroll County is having their Mini Fest the same day. It is too late for either club to change dates. All we can do is advertise aggressively.
The Foundation for Amateur Radio has not yet finalized their plans for F.A.R.fest. This used to be known as the Gaithersburg Hamfest. The date is set. The location and nature of the hamfest is still to be determined. Stay tuned.
No one from the Repeater Committee was in attendance. No problems are known.
