Geeesch, it was cold! Last night set a new low temperature record. Tonight may do the same. But this is Ham radio. A Ham has to do what a Ham has to do. We had a good turn out.
Plans are complete for the BARC Hamfest. The dates are March 31 and April 1. Plan now to attend the hamfest and to help out on the gate. Passes and parking permits were distributed. If you did not get one, contact Charlie, W3CQB, or see the procedures given on the BARC Gate page.
We had a good discussion about Field Day. The plans, at this moment, are to set up a two transmitter station. This also allows us to have a freebee VHF/UHF station. This is similar to the arrangement that we had last year. This implies two things: There will ample opportunity for everyone to get a lot of operating time, and we need a lot of help setting up the station. We will keep the Field Day page updated as the plans settle down. The dates are June 23 and June 24 - don't plan any trips to the Grand Canyon that weekend. Besides, our Field Day food is better than that Grand Canyon stuff.
The club roster is being updated. If you have not paid your dues for this year - now is an excellent to do it. There are a lot of changes to the old roster. Operator class and e-mail address top the list. If you were not at the meeting and have changes, contact Al, W3TRW.
We took care of a few business matters. Included was the purchase of a Carolina Windom, all band, HF antenna for Field Day. We also voted to replenish the dangerously low supply of club QSL cards. Then we dug into the refreshments. The cake was good and so was the conversation that went with it.
