Club Picnic and Field Day planning was the main topic for this meeting. We were pleased that Ed, N3CAV, could join us. He is the Field Day Chairman for the Baltimore Amateur Radio Club (BARC). BARC will join us for Field Day this year. Before the meeting we toured the carnival grounds so that Ed could get a feel for the layout. The basic plans are unchanged and the details are still being worked out. For instance, circumstances have conspired against us and will prevent any of our satellite operators from attending. So the FT-847 transceiver has been replaced with a TS-570 for 6 meters and an IC-271H for 2 meters. This gives us more power on both bands for normal operation. Satellite operation would be a seven armed nightmare with this equipment. The latest plans are on the Field Day page.
Our summer picnic will be held the Saturday of Field Day. The club will supply the food and facilities. You have to take it from there. The Field Day page. includes the picnic plans.
The club liability insurance will be renewed. The new agent is still getting quotes from various insurance companies. It appears that there will a slight increase in premiums. We will have the details at the July meeting.
Bingo will be the last full week of July. That is July 24 through July 29. This takes a LOT of people. Plan now to help as many evenings as you can. Bingo page.
No one from the Repeater Committee was present. But we all had noticed that the Ocean City link was operational. Details to follow.
After the business, we ate refreshments and talked Ham Radio. When the chocolate chip cookies ran out, we went home.
