What Happened
at the March Meeting

Thursday.   March 9,   2006.

The BARC Hamfest is the next event on our calendar.   The planning seems to be complete.   All that remains is how to get into the hamfest and keep the gates manned.   Passes and parking permits are not yet available.   We will have to pick them up at the hamfest.   Enter the fairgrounds by the Timonium Road entrance.   Tell whoever tries to sell you a ticket that you are with the Hanover Area Hamming Association and working the Park and Ride Gate.   They will direct you to whoever has the paperwork.   We started the sign up sheet but there were not enough members present to fill all of the slots.   Yes,   we need help!   "Rush hour" runs from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m.   We really need help then.   See the BARC Hamfest page for general information.

Field Day is next on the calendar.   There is some good news and some confusing news.   The Fire Company has graciously made the all of the grounds available to us.   There will be baseball games on Saturday.   There may,   or may not,   be someone using the meeting room.   Other than these two exceptions,   the place is ours for the weekend.   As you will recall,   BARC had proposed that we combine forces for Field Day and operate from here in Hanover.   Now it appears that this plan may not have the wholehearted support of their membership.   At this time we are uncertain of their plans.   They may decide to join us here.   They may decide to operate from a site more convenient to Baltimore.   Or they may decide not to operate Field Day.   So how to proceed with our plans?   Since arrangements have been made to use the carnival grounds here,   the consensus was that we proceed to plan to operate from here.   If BARC decides to join us we will simply keep adding stations until we run out of stations or carnival grounds.   BARC will have to determine what is best for their members.   The welcome mat is still out.   In any event we can continue with our Field Day plans.   The Field Day page has general information.   We will update it as the situation settles.

Our Mini Tail Gate Fest was the last item that needed our attention.   Mike,   N3KTX,   had tons of flyers for us to hand out.   Plus a good supply of the half size version that we hand out at the BARC Hamfest.   All arrangements are complete with the Fire Company.   Not much left to do except to talk it up whenever you get a chance.   See the Mini Tail Gate page for details.

Having quickly and efficiently dispatched the pending business,   we socialized for a while and went home.   See you at the BARC Hamfest.
