We would like to welcome new member Darrin, KB3MOH, from Gettysburg. Darrin was not able to attend the meeting so if you hear him on the repeater, give him a good H.A.H.A. welcome.
We were also pleased to have Shawn, KB3FUW, with us for the evening. Shawn just completed his commercial diver training and is waiting for his first assignment as a underwater welder.
The BARC Hamfest is the next big club activity. All seems under control at this point. We need to keep two people selling tickets all day for both days of the hamfest. If we want to open one or two more windows during the rush hour we can do that. It is not required by our contract. At the March meeting we will have a schedule and try to get all the people in all the right time slots. Think ahead about what times you can be there.
BARC has proposed that we combine forces for Field Day again this year. They have also proposed that we have it at the here and use our call. The idea generally was well received. The first item of business will be to see if the carnival grounds are available to us that weekend. The general idea is to more or less repeat last year's operation. Two stations on HF, one station on VHF/UHF, one satellite station and a GOTA station. There are some changes to the rules for 2006 - mostly pertaining to the GOTA station.
The N3KZS 6 meter repeater is on the "winter schedule" and available for use.
Having quickly disposed of the business we went straight to the refreshments and rag chewing. Best stories of the evening we Joe, KB3MQK, and Andy, AF3I, describing how to get the antennas up for the January VHF contest. If you remember there were fierce winds that weekend.
