We had a small crowd and quickly took care of the business of the club.
Ron, WAØOJS, has a new repeater on 447.875 MHz. Ron was not able to attend the meeting so we are uncertain about the PL tone. PL may not be in use, so give it a try.
The South transmitter site for the 146.895 MHz repeater is out of service for repairs. Ralph, N3KZS, was unable to attend the meeting so the nature of the problem and status of repairs will have to wait until the August meeting.
Field Day went well and was enjoyed by all that participated. OK, it was hot and muggy but we still had fun. We teamed up with The Baltimore Amateur Radio Club, BARC, this year. Our Field Day page shows our members at part of it.
Bingo is the last week of this month. Our Bingo page has all of the details. WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Plans for our Fifth Annual Mini Tail Gate Fest are on schedule, thanks to Mike, N3KTX. We need the most help from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on August 21st. Member details here. The Advertising page is here.
F.A.R.Fest, the "Gaithersburg Hamfest", is September 10th and 11th. The Foundation For Amateur Radio, F.A.R., provides many scholarships for collage bound hams. These kids will become the engineers that will design the radios we use in our old age. So support of this effort is pays big dividends. Bill, N3WD, and Charlie, W3CQB, will be there Friday, Saturday and Sunday to supervise the vendors. We could use some more help on Friday if you can make it. If you can give a couple of hours on Saturday or Sunday they need help selling tickets at the gates. Contact Bill, N3WD, and he will get you a free pass for your help.
BARC has invited us to operate the Maryland - DC QSO Party from their large, indoor, air conditioned, well equipped station in Reisterstown, Maryland. They will be running two HF stations and one VHF station. Contact Bill, N3WD, if you would like to operate. The contest is August 13th and 14th. Some additional information is on our MDC QSO Party page. This page assumed that we would operate the contest by ourselves. It will be updated soon to show the combined HAHA - BARC effort.
Ralph, N3XWN, brought the refreshments. We talked and snacked until we were ready to go home.
