The Baltimore Amateur Radio Club (BARC) invited us to join them at their Training and Meeting Facility to operate this contest.   They had two stations on HF,   one VHF station and a digital station operating.   The building is spacious,   clean and AIR CONDITIONED.   And all the antennas are permanently erected.   It seemed like all we had to do was walk in and operate.   But alas,   we had to drag the gas grill outside to bar-b-que the chicken.   But we did eat well.

Sadly,   propagation was not good this weekend - as had been forecast.   Saturday was poor and Sunday was horrible thanks to a disturbed geomagnetic field.   By Sunday only the 80 meter band was reliable and it had an S9 noise level.   There were some very delightful sporadic E openings on 10 and 6 meters.   This provided contacts with New England and from Minnesota South to Texas.

The score was expectedly low,   ending up with about 40,000 points.   By comparison this was about the same score that BARC reported last year.   But,   it is about 1/3 the score of the number one club station last year.  Of course,   their geomagnetic field was no better than ours so it the winner remains to be seen.   This contest is sponsored by the Antietam Radio Association.   Results for the 2005 contest will be posted there.
