CROP Walk 2005

Sunday.   October 16,   2005.  Hanover,   Pennsylvania

This is our annual public service event.   The Hanover Area Council of Churches holds the CROP walk to raise money for their work towards feeding people that don't get enough to eat.   Our contribution is communications.   The CROP walk coordinator wants to know where the first and last walkers are at all times.   There is also a small amount of traffic between the three rest stops and the coordinator.

N3MKE, W3CQB, KB3ETX and AF3I

In the picture above are (L-R) Joe, N3MKE,   Charlie, W3CQB,   Al, KB3ETX  and Andy, AF3I ready to start the CROP walk.   Joe is the chairman of our CROP walk committee and did a great job of putting the on the show.   Of course, he has been doing it for 25 years,   so he should be getting the hang of it by now.

N3MKE and KB3MQK

Here is Joe, N3MKE and Joe, WB3MQK setting up the net control station.   The 146.895 MHz repeater has great coverage in downtown Hanover.   We could have used HT's all day for our communications.   The repeater would have selected a receive site just North of Hanover and a transmit site at Manchester,   Maryland.   But it figures all this out automatically.   Thanks Ralph,   for a really neat repeater system.

After the last walker had returned,   Joan Grim,   the CROP walk coordinator,   complimented us on a good job.   She said that the flow of information to her made her job go smoothly.   The members that made it all happen are:

AF3I Andy
KB3ETX Al
KB3MQK Joe
N3MKE Joe
N3VN Brian
W3CQB Charlie
