SZENT ISTVÁN AWARD

The HA OLD-TIMERS' CLUB of the RADIOTECHNIKA magazine issues the SZENT ISTVAN (St. Steven the I.) AWARD to celebrate the millenary existence of the Hungarian state and the 1000 years jubilee of the coronation of St. Steven, the first king of Hungary.

Hereby we kindly invite the radio amateurs and listeners of the world to take part in this award program to obtain this award. 

Issued by: with the consent of the Hungarian Radio Amateur Society (MRASZ) The HA OLD-TIMERS' CLUB of the RADIOTECHNIKA magazine. 

Applicants: private radio amateurs, club stations and listeners from any country. To facilitate the collection of the necessary points or contacts and to obtain the award, every year an activity period will be held between 10 and 20 August. Additionally, a commemoration cup will be awarded every year to the radio amateur who made the highest number of contacts during this activity period, on the basis of the LOG extract submitted. 

Conditions: any two way contacts are valid under the following conditions:

  • Bands: any authorised radio amateur bands (HF, VHF and above).
  • Mode: no mode limitation (CW, RTTY, SSTV, Phone, etc.).
  • Time: the contacts are valid that have been made after 1st January, 2000.
  • Scores: The final score is the sum of the points given by the stations worked.
  • The contact made with the same station can be counted only once, regardless of the band, mode and/or time.

    Score requirements:

  • 70 points are to be collected by the HA-OE-OM-UR-YO-YU-9A-S5 stations.
  • 40 points are to be collected by the stations from the rest of Europe.
  • 20 points are to be collected by the stations from the other continents (DX).
  • Available points (given by the Hungarian stations): 10 points for each contact with HA1OOT, HA5MCK, HA1DAR, W1PL (HA5CPL). 5 points for each contact with the HA Old-Timers' Club members. 1 point for each contact with any licensed Hungarian radio amateur station. Application: To obtain the AWARD please attach to your application a station LOG extract, verified by two other licensed radio amateur, containing date, time, band, partner callsign, sent and received report, mode. No received QSLs required. Send your application, including a fee of 7 (seven) IRCs (Hungarians HUF 600,-), to the following address:
