Rüsselsheim
is one of the partner cities of Kecskemét, but I am sure without any
doubt that this is the most successful friendship. We are in contact for a
decade! Our first meet was in 1991, in Hungary, and we visit to each other
every year. In every two years we go to Rüsselsheim, so otherwise they
come to see us. There are represented the major sports, including ham
radio. We are very proud of our hobby, but not only the sport is the chain
among us. Sometimes we are allowed to hear about others on radioamateur
bands. All of us has ham radio license.
The
available photos were made by digital camera. Click on the photo to
enlarge it! These photos are from the very exciting institute of atom physics,
where our good friend - Peter - works as an electrical engineering. I was
amazed not because of the atom physics, but the incredible technology and
numbers.
During the
splendid three days we managed to look around in the laboratory, meet
others on the garden party, taste the really fine wine from the hills near
Mainz. We have also seen the major interests in Rüsselsheim, where is Europe's
largest Opel fabric industry. We are very grateful after these
really enjoyable days and we all hope in Kecskemét that we will be able
to organize so arresting program next year.
To tell
some words about the institute: there is used cyclotron to accelerate ions
to near light speed! It is impossible me to understand the process, but I
have heard incredible dates. The high voltage cable ends at this
laboratory. In case of full power, the input energy is 28 MW!!! The 320000
V is driven in vacuum. There is an amplifier of 15 MW, and because of this
high power, there would be radiation without 50 cm steal protection fence
(wall). The research work is sponsored by the government and processes are
not secrets. The money investment is incredible, because the 2 cyclotrons
cost (if I remember well) nearly 30 billion DEM and the annual current
account is more than 15 million marks.
In instance
of particle acceleration for example the weight of the molecule is
increasing (observable near light speed). Lorenz-form and Einstein's
theory is usable. In the institute (cyclotron) they are on the way making
new materials by bombarding molecules with ions! There is a laser which
power could be 1500 GW = 1,5 TW = 1500000 MW. It is true that only in a
short period. The ion director (focus magnet) needs more than 2000 Amperes
to guide the ion in vacuum.
