It does not happen too often that the call sign of a very active ham is given to someone after s/he dies. With the HA8DK call sign it happened differently -- since Sandy's son (Endre) was the person who applied for the call sign two years after his father's death.
Sandy was a dominant person in the club's life. He was active in contests. He was always ready to meet new challenges, to learn new areas within the hobby. He built rigs, operated HF, VHF, RTTY, packet, participated in contests and contacted hams via satellites. He taught others and many became hams because of his influence.
Endre -- who has already participated in a couple of contests together with other club members -- is determined to continue the good family traditions. First he has obtained a VHF license in 1996 and now has a higher category HF license.
