AMSAT OSCAR 10

Prior to going to Solomon Islands I had been very active on OSCAR satellites as G8BCG. In fact, I was fortunate to hear the beacon from the very first OSCAR in the early 60s at the North West VHF Group in Manchester. 

Oscar 10 was launched into an orbit that really favoured my location - virtually the whole northern hemisphere was available to me when the "bird" was near my horizon to the north.

Dec 2000: AMSAT OSCAR 40 has just been launched - this has far greater potential than AO10 - perhaps I need to go on an AMSAT DXpedition - anyone interested??

1/1/2001:  I have got many hours of audio tape of my OSCAR 10 activity -  I hope to convert it into Real Audio files on this site. Here are just a few recordings of the AO10 downlink - during the first few days of Oscar 10 in 1983:
