10.7MHz SSB IF               GW4RWR

Introduction
This was a pulled unit that needed some work. No SSB output at low level, and severly distorted audio when speaking loudly into the mic were the symptoms. A diode had failed open circuit near the filter, so was clipping most of the signal.

Carrier balance suppression has been been optimised for USB.

Implementation
It’s a rat's nest, but fortunately documented. I'm always on the look out for an additional SSB filter, which would allow an RF speech clipper to be included.

10.7 output is -10dBm. RF is routed in/out on SMA sockets, to facilitate testing of external modules. Currently using an LM380 for received audio, probably to be replaced with an IC from salvaged car radios.
