An interesting tale was the callsign "Fanum Rainbow" an AA callsign which was rumoured to be the Duke of Edinburgh. I have recently read ,however, that Harold Wilson ,when Prime Minister in the sixties realised that there was no way to contact him in his car via radio in case of a nuclear emergency.  There was no national 24 hour radio network apart from the AA (all others being only of limited coverage) and GPO Radiophones did not cover all of the UK.  They therefore installed a multichannel AA AM10B in the Prime Ministers car (OLL212 Humber or CUU570 Rover 3.5) and in press films of the era a Low Band Finglas whip is seen on the rear wing.
