Home Office SRA 131 Suitcase radio system

This is one of two covert(?) Suitcase Radio Systems.  Marked as Home Office type no SRA131, containing a Pye Europa on168.9875 MHZ and 173.075 MHz Simplex and Duplex by addition of extra Pye Europa Rx front end board located inside its facilities hod in order that the Rx could work on both frequencies as a Europa normally would only Rx sensitive about a Meg apart per front end.  Cigar lighter plugs provided for in car use.

This Europa is supplied with audio inversion and encoded encryption via the microphone/speaker connections to a Racal MA4226 Encryption device with keypad and back up battery to provide variable key codes for the encrypted Audio paths Rx and Tx .

Date certainly circa 1976 - 1980 when Europas were in their prime?

Anyone know more about the history of these -  please inform Dave Hicks G8EPR at the Pye Museum website address.

The site deals mainly with Pye (and other companies) Radio Telephone and Telecommunication equipment.  It is very unlikely that we will be able to answer any questions about Pye domestic radios, radiograms, record players etc etc
