Repeater abuse.

Since the provision of GB3YC back in 1992, it has enjoyed trouble-free operation with no instances of abuse. Its wide area of coverage did cause some concern to the Keeper and the volunteer management team, of the potential for abuse from certain areas. This pleasant situation, whereby GB3YC has been enjoyed by so many of our colleagues, both local and visitors to our region, has sadly not lasted. Since the new repeater was donated and installed back into service, there have been numerous instances of stupid (and illegal) blocking of transmissions, blank carriers and other such childish acts of disruption.

It is the duty of every one of us licenced amateurs to be vigilant to this sort of behaviour and to report instances to the Keeper. It is after all 'your' kind donations that keep 'YC' operating together with our input, money and time that ensures that high standards in operation are maintained and enjoyed.

Any one who has 'reliable' information, as to the identity, address, call-sign, etc., information that will stand-up in court, is asked to please... make this information known to the Keeper. Rest assured...it will be treated in the strictest of confidence.

Under no circumstances discuss the problem over the air, by 'YC' or any other frequency. As difficult as it may be to resist so doing....don't enter into a 'slanging-match' when the culprit is up to his / her pathetic tricks. That only confirms to the culprit that their baser instincts are being satisfied.
