John - M1DEI

John became 'benefactor' to GB3YC in the 'late 90's.

The repeater originally started life at the home of Bob and Jools in the village of Silpho near Scarborough. When changes took place and a new repeater site was needed John came to our rescue by making space available on his commercial mast.

In 1997 'Octon Cross' became home to 'YC'. He was subsequently 'bullied' into joining G4BP and taking the RAE. Once we'd 'got him' his mast became host to the region's 'packet switch' earning itself a reputation as arguably 'the best site' in the north.

Much of John's support of our hobby is 'behind the scenes' where his skills have supported fellow amateurs in their participation of our hobby. His generosity has enabled GB3YC to provide a 'second-to-none' service to all radio amateurs - especially visitors to this most beautiful part of the UK.
