ThornhillSCART has applied to site a new 23cms TV repeater (GB3PT) at the BT microwave mast at Thornhill (click for exact location) near Hedge end, Southampton. The anticipated coverage is seen below. We have been offered space on the north leg of the mast at 37 metres but will have a very long feeder run at approximately 100 metres of FHJ 550 giving 5db attenuation. Unfortunately we will only have one feeder and will either have to down convert to UHF at the top of the mast or suffer the loss on the receive signal. We are currently undertaking a series of tests before committing ourselves to the expense of the aerial installation etc but results look good. These tests are being done using an Alford Slot with a gain of about 5db - the final aerials will have more gain - on 1284 MHz. Results so far are as follows:
* Possible equipment problems. We will be publishing further test schedules by email.
