Solar Radio Monitoring Programme

Our hobby of Amateur Radio is heavily dependent upon "Conditions" for successful communications. One of the major governing factors underlying propagation conditions is the activity of our nearest star - the sun.

Solar flares, sunspots, mass ejections, X-Ray emissions and a host of other phenomena all have their effect here on earth. Some enhance communications whilst others black it out.

Solar activity is a favourite topic of conversation on both GB3GD and GB3IM. Here we present some links to various scientific web sites, amongst others, who can give a deeper and highly qualified insight into this subject.
