Our hobby of
Amateur Radio is heavily dependent upon "Conditions" for
successful communications. One of the major governing factors underlying
propagation conditions is the activity of our nearest star - the sun.
Solar flares, sunspots, mass ejections, X-Ray emissions and a host of
other phenomena all have their effect here on earth. Some enhance
communications whilst others black it out.
Solar activity
is a favourite topic of conversation on both GB3GD and GB3IM. Here we
present some links to various scientific web sites, amongst others, who
can give a deeper and highly qualified insight into this subject. |
