Right now, you will now be asking yourself
who and what is Knight Air?
Knight Air was launched on March 18th
2000 and was formerly part of the United Kingdom arm of Noble Air. It exists
only in the hearts and minds of the pilots who fly for Knight Air and here, at
this site on the Internet. It gives a group of like-minded people the
opportunity to achieve their dreams, as a Professional Airline pilot.
Knight
Air is unlike any other virtual airline. It is a totally “open” airline. For a
start, the Board of Directors is directly elected by the pilots in an annual
vote. Basically, this means that YOU the pilot has a say in who sits on the
Board and, providing you have the seniority and the time, you can make yourself
available for election. There will also be a Pilots representative sitting on
the Board. The same as in the real world airlines.
Knight Air has been formed with YOU the
pilot in mind. The options for flights are wide and varied. YOU will choose
how many flights you make and when you make them. Of course, you will still
need to report your flights and when your hours accumulate to the required
amount, you will achieve promotion to the next rank. Occasionally, you will be
required to complete a check flight. Don’t panic. Even Hub Commanders will
have to complete them.
You
will need commitment. A minimum of at least 1 hour per week, hopefully you will
be able to commit to more than this, to remain on the current list.
Wives/girlfriends and in some cases husbands/boyfriends will never understand
how you can just sit in front of the monitor “playing with planes!” As you get
more into Knight Air, the more time you will WANT to spend.
For new inexperienced pilots who wish to
join us at Knight Air, you will begin your career on the fleet of Turbo prop
aircraft plying the Domestic and Express routes. When you feel confident
enough, request a check flight and, if you are successful, proceed on to the
bigger jet passenger fleet. For new experienced pilots, simply provide your
chosen Hub Commander with your accumulated hours from your previous virtual
airline and that’s it. The sky is your limit.
Knight Air is here for you to enjoy, to
have fun and maybe to learn something about the virtual aviation industry. You
never know, you may be the person who can teach others how to ‘build’ scenery,
repaint aircraft etc.
