Using a Yaesu headset on the FT727 without VOX

This is a very simple external mod.
Take a double pole switch (RS components part 317-651) and solder a 1k
resistor across the 2 poles, connect this side of the switch to some screened
cable with a 2.5mm jack socket on the end. Connect the other side of the
switch to some screened cable with a 2.5mm jack plug on the end. A good way
of mounting the switch is in the top of a 35mm film canister using the
canister to protect the wiring. Now with the VOX switched off the switch acts
as a locking PTT switch. You will have to make an extension for the Rx audio
to the earpiece as well, this is just a 3.5mm jackplug to 3.5mm jack socket.
