TOMORROW’S CHILD
Last
night I dreamed the future. I met
tomorrow’s child
He
showed me our inheritance. A world so
very wild
People
fighting on the streets for scraps of mouldy food
Drinking foul liquids. From noxious
substance brewed
While
earthquakes shake the world apart and seas re-claim the land
Hurricanes
flatten shelter and bury it with sand
Cars
are rusting in the street, due to lack of fuel
Homeless
children roam in packs and have never heard of school
The
days are hot, the nights are cold, on young and old it takes its toll
Survival
takes you underground and living like a mole
The
heat of the day blisters your skin and fries you like an egg
The
cold of the night freezes you stiff until you get gangrene in an arm or leg
Lots
of people take their own lives to escape this awful fate
Their
bodies make food for others, who can’t remember when they last ate
It’s
survival of the fittest, but then the fit are few
The
only drinking water is from the morning dew
How
did all this happen? What tore the world
apart?
The
leaders had the money and power, but they were not so smart
They
ignored all the warnings so they wouldn’t lose face
The
result is the extermination of the whole human race
The
leader’s have it good for now. In their
bunkers underground
In
time they will realize, that they hold a worthless pound (£)
In a
world where money can’t buy a thing
When
even they, to life will cling
Their
money and power, they can’t give away
Even
to live for one more day
So
people in power, stop thinking of your gain
Or
end it all now and save us all pain
