SHADES OF DEATH
THE BLACK DEATH only comes out at night
He’s always there, but he’s out of sight
He’s probably standing by the cemetery gate
With all the time in the world to wait
He’ll creep up behind you and rip out your
throat
Just like a sacrificial goat
He’ll drag you away by the scruff of your neck
Alive or dead, he won’t stop to check
Down to the depths. Where fires burn in hell
Where sulphur and death are the only smell
You’ll be put to work, stoking the fires
and be there forever for the devil’s desires
You’ll ask yourself daily, ”what did I do
wrong?”
Then you’ll feel a sharp stab in the back from
Nick’s prong
Nick says, “I do unto you as you did to others”
“Now get on with your stoking and help out your
brothers”
THE RED DEATH comes and makes you sick
He creates pain and suffering and won’t let you
die quick
Everyone he touches is doomed to die
You can’t shake off your illness as hard as you
try
He’ll make you burn up and then cool you down
He’ll make you sweat like you feel you could
drown
Then when your body can’t take any more
He’ll gather you up and rush out the door
He piles his cart high with bodies each night
If anyone sees him they always take flight
Everyone knows that his touch means death
and fever can come from the smell of his breath
He’ll feed off your blood, until you are dry
You’ll be too weak to stop him, although you
may try
Then he’ll sell off your soul to the highest
bid
and then lick his lips at the good work he did
THE WHITE DEATH comes at any time
You slip away without reason or rhyme
An angel comes and takes your hand
and leads you to the Promised Land
In Heaven you’ll gain your wings and fly
Forget the things that made you die
You’ll think nice thoughts of fellow man
and wonder how it all began
No war, no crime, the perfect place
To spend your days and find solace
But spare a thought for those poor souls
Who Nick the devil still controls
For those who stoke the fires of hell
For all eternity must dwell
A right from wrong they soon will learn
But even so they’ll scorch and burn
