PERFECT NIGHT
The moon and stars they shine
so bright
On this my perfect summer
night
The owl he hoots and looks
for prey
After resting through the
long hot day
The calm and stillness all
around
Gives a feel of peace as
night drops down
The hot ground gives the
evening scent
Honeysuckle and Jasmine the
main event
A peaceful feel and relaxed
state
Are just inside my garden
gate
I don’t feel the need to roam
As all I wish for is at home
A shooting star across the
sky
While fireflies dance in late
July
This has to be my ideal place
Where I find happiness and
solace
An urban fox is on his rounds
He creeps around and makes no
sounds
I sit here with my drink in
hand
And thank my gods for this
Promised Land
It’s late now and I go to
sleep
No nightmares or the need to
weep
For when the sunrise lights
the sky
I’ll be there to wish the
night goodbye
Oh perfect night, I’ll miss
you so
Your sunset and your
afterglow
When next day’s done, I’ll
feel so right
Looking for another perfect
night
