Fear of the Night

When a sunny day turns into night

it can give us quite a fright

The boogieman comes out just then

and frightens women and the men

The children only stand and stare

at all the shadows dancing there

The graveyard shadows from the moon

The hoot of owls the only tune

Dracula is on his way

to feast on blood before the day

His cape so black and teeth so white

He must get back before first light

Perhaps the ripper wends his way

along Whitechapel as he may

A throat to slit or body parts to steal

It’s all the same to him I feel

Do we believe that darkness brings

a fear of unknown creepy things

Or do we relish the long still night

When we can sleep without a fight

For peace and quiet comes our way

and leads us into our new day
