ALONE

When sad songs play, do you sit down and cry?

Do you feel love and life is passing you by?

One place set for dinner and a toast to yourself

Are these the signs that you’re left on the shelf?

No arguments nightly on which soap to see

You’ve got the remote and it stops on your knee

What wine shall I have, a white or a red

I can sleep left or right as I have all the bed

When I choose to get up, it’s only for me

It’s a wonderful feeling, I’m always so free

Sometimes I’d like someone to warm up my bed

A permanent arrangement just fills me with dread

I’ve weighed up the options and I like being alone

I can do what I want in my own little home

If you get lucky and stay for the night

Slip away early morning or you may get a fright

My dirty socks pollute the air

Rubbish and clothes on every chair

I can wash the pots just once a week and never make the bed

Then when I run out of room, I can live out in the shed
