Local area - South Stoke from the air

(Our house is in the middle of the picture with red walls and a grey roof. Those with keen eyesight and/or good imagination, may just be able to make out my EME aerials).

The area around Goring-On-Thames and Streatley is one of the most beautiful in the South of England. It is dominated by the River Thames which flows through the Goring gap to London. The Downs rise to the South and the Chilterns to the North and West providing many beautiful walks. The area is very popular with tourists in the summer, both walkers and people messing about in boats. The nearest town for shopping is Wallingford 4 miles away. The largest major towns are the University City of Oxford, about 12 miles to the North, and the town of Reading about 10 miles to the East. London is 40 miles away. The area is also popular with commuters having excellent rail and motorway links to the Capital. House prices reflect this.
