Home Page for G4STA

Originally licensed as G8DNC (February 1970), I got my Class A call in April 1983. During this period I lived in Biggin Hill, Kent, UK.

In May 1986 I came to the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands to work and have been here ever since. I took early retirement in October 2002. During my rare appearances on the amateur bands from the Canaries, I have used the call (probably incorrectly after all this time) as: EA8/G4STA.

I have worked on most modes on the HF and the 2m/70cms bands including the data modes RTTY, AMTOR and PACKET and more recently PSK31. In recent years I specialised in satellite operations and ran a PACSAT station. I also worked through Oscar 40 until its demise. I am not currently active on the AMSATS, but will remedy that situation when there are some more in orbit (that work) and a bit more sophisticated than FM repeaters, hihi :-)
