Trip Report

Just Tansy and I for this one, Susan working.

Took long route via Ripon, Masham and Hawes. Turned right at The Moorcock Inn towards Kirkby Steven. Parked at NY783004 the carpark opposite the former pub The Thrang. Take the gate on the opposite side of the road to Deep Gill, crossing the picturesque Thrang Bridge. At NY781004 turn south across the fields to HazleGill farm. Follow the way marks up the hill and under the bridge carrying the Settle-Carlisle Settle Carlisle Railway. The clear track now heads up the fell, over a ford , through a gate and eventually peters out. Look for marker post which leads to others eventually becoming a clear path up to High Dolphinstay. At the path crossroads turn left up a path to The Nab. The trig point is SW from here over flat moorland.

A summit to summit with the the 'LKB's on Helvellyn and five other contacts on 2m FM and one on 2m SSB..

Back down the way we came admiring the view from The Nab and the lime kiln near Thrang Bridge. Arrived at the car just as the summit disappeared under cloud.
