A trip to Nottingham to collect a piece of furniture that my wife Judy had bought on e-bay, prompted this activation.
We decided to collect the item first and then head east to Lincolnshire on our way back. The weather was fine for the activation.
Normanby Top is the highest point at 168m ASL in the Lincolnshire Wolds near Market Rasen. The summit area is crossed by country lanes so it is possible to operate here after leaving your vehicle
and walking a few metres to set up your station. A radar station for air traffic control is sited on the hill:

I set the station up in a disused farm gateway at grid reference TF116963. The area is intensively farmed and crops were growing in the field where the trig point is located. The activation was to be HF only
and I used my usual antenna - a 66 feet long doublet supported by a SOTA-Pole and fed via open wire feeder with an LDG Z-100 auto ATU. The Yaesu FT-817 with external 7 Ah battery provided 5 watts
output. As the activation was only a short distance from my vehicle the luxury of a camping chair was used on this occasion.

As usual I started on 5 MHz SSB before moving to CW. 10 MHz for Europe is really paying off for CW QRP SOTA work, and 3.5 MHz can sometimes reach the parts other bands can't, and a QSO
with G4CPA at Crosshills near Skipton resulted. It was good to work John G4BVE/P who was enjoying a short break in the Scottish Borders. Even 28 MHz produced a QSO via sporadic-e to Poland.
Stations Logged:
Conditions had been good, with 25 QSOs in 50 minutes, and I was pleased to finish off the TW series of summits, having now activated all five of them.
The plan now is to start activating more of the SP series, and complete those over time.
