Here you see me enjoying my favourite hobby. However, I also enjoy amateur radio. I am QRV 160m through to 70cms though mostly I use 160 and 80 SSB at home and 2 and 70 FM mobile.  QTH is on a 700ft hill top which is excellent for the higher bands but restricted space, inefficient earth and a lack of tall trees makes it poor for the lower frequencies. Current antenna systems are Chelcom CL80 80m mono band vertical, Butternut for 80->6m, MegaTrap trapped dipole for 160, 80 and 40. The latter is 105' span and about 30' high in the centre. Best dx on 80 is several VKs with the CL80 during the summer.I also have a beam up for 6m but can't find much enthusiasm for this band.

My favourite part of the hobby is playing around with bits of wire for antennas. Given the size of the garden this is a somewhat masochistic / optimistic pastime but wire is cheap and I find it relaxing.
