The Walks

I only came back into fell walking 2009 after a layoff of some forty years (See picture below, from left to right Ray Bispham, Alan Jones and myself on Snowdon 1969), and it all really started when back in December 2008 I found a advert for the Snowdon Challenge to raise money for Prostate Cancer research, having been diagnosed back in late 2007 with the most agressive form of this cancer that had already spread into my bones. With exercise being good to help fight this disease I started on a four and a half month training program to get myself fit for Snowdon starting off with one short walk a week and gradually building up to two long walks a week using part of the sandstone trail in Cheshire, Bickerton Hill, Raw Head, Bulkeley Hill and Beeston. And walks from Macclesfield forrest over Shutlingsloe to Shinning Tor via the Cat and Fiddle.

By the time I had done the Snowdon challenge the walking bug had really bitten and as a result my two team mates from the challenge a another friend from work, (Jason Lee) decided that we would do some walks together on a monthly basis. Since then Steve has come up with a plan that he is going to bag all of the 214 Wainwrights over the next five years.

There are many very good sites on the internet for information on walks most have some sort of variation on the route taken I hope that you like my selection, pictures and comments on route details.

More pictures from these walks can be found on my Picassa page.
