Furness Amateur Radio Society (FARS), based in south-west Cumbria is a club for people interested in radio communications.
It’s members include licensed amateurs, short wave listeners and interested people of all ages with the aim of furthering their knowledge of communications.
Activities include construction projects, field activities, talks and lectures and running special event stations for groups and organisations such as scouts, heritage, tourism and other community projects.
The Society also provides tuition leading to the foundation, intermediate and advanced Radio Amateurs Examinations.
There are regular social and technical “eyeball” meetings as well as “on-air” nets on both VHF & HF.
