H.F. and Digi Modes

The different characteristics of the HF bands mean that there is always something of interest.

I am not an avid DX'er or contester. Special event's and locations do not tweak my buttons too much either.

My main interests on H.F. are.

Low power operation.

button When 10m opens up a few Watts of SSB works wonders.
o A few Watts of PSK31 on 40m and the narrow bandwidth gives reliable copy.
o Patience and skill can get contacts using low power even in the pile ups, a much more satisfactory way of getting an S9 report.
o QRSS, using very low power my signals have been read in Australia and New Zealand

Portable Operation

o A pleasant day enough sun for 3 Amps from the Solar Panel.
Or enough breeze to keep it cool and generate a few Amps from the Wind Generator
o An inverted V dipole centre supported by the SOTA pole.
Or 50m of wire slung up an oak tree and end fed.
o A glass of Cool Beer.

Digimodes

o Psk31
A dozen signals packed into one speech channel low power and R5 copy.
o WSJT
Technology from deep space probes used to 'hear' what you cant hear.
o SSTV
You either resend someone else's pictures or it can be an art form or apply some humour I know which I enjoy.
o Hellschriber
An ancient mode brought to the computer which has some unique communications features.( Analogue Digital ?)
