July 2014 VHF National Field Day

VHF NFD 2014 could not replicate the excellent conditions of 2013. Once again it was 100% search & pounce in the "sweeper" section here. I had the 4m beam on the tower so gave this band a good work out on Sunday. Tropo conditions were fairly flat and there was no Es, luckily noise levels were respectably low during the event so I could hear quite well for a change. I think I worked most of the NFD stations that had registered who were actually QRV.

Saturday afternoon/evening and early Sunday provided time to look on 432 and 1296MHz and also make a few microwave QSOs. Conditions were unspectacular, with just a little RS apparent into Germany on 3cm. Best DX on 432MHz was OK2A (JO60JJ) on CW, with a good signal from DL7AKL (JO62) on SSB early on. Other good QSOs included OZ1ALS (JO44), DR9A (JN48) who was frequently audible on the back of the beam at good signal levels, EI9E/P (IO62), DL0WSF (JO51), and GM3HAM/P (IO74).

On 1296MHz DX included DC6UW and OZ1ALS (JO44), EI9E/P (IO62), DL0GTH (JO50), DK6AS (JO52), DL0SWG (JO63), DK2ZF/P (JO43) and DF0YY (JO62), with OK2A (JO60) as the best DX.

2320MHz and above are not included in the UK contest, but are in the EU event, the best QSOs were:

2.3GHz OZ1ALS (JO44), DK0PU, PA0BAT (JO31), DK2MN, DF0MU (JO32), PI4GN (JO33)

3.4GHz DK2MN, DF0MU (JO32), DK6JL, DK0PU, PA0BAT (JO31), DL0GTH (JO50), PI4GN (JO33)

5.7GHz DK2MN, DF0MU (JO32), DK6JL, PA0BAT (JO31)

10GHz DK2MN, DF0MU (JO32), DL0LN, DK0PU, PA0BAT (JO31), PI4GN (JO33), DC6UW (JO44)
