A personal message addressed to the callsign MULTI, is entered into or received by your
PMS. Upon receipt of the message the server will run and generate copies of the original
message privately addressed to those callsigns specified at the start of the incoming
message.
Each copied message will have appended a list of stations who have been sent a copy. In
addition, private copies of the message may be made and their existence will not be shown
on outgoing copies. The input message will determine which callsigns are shown as having
been sent a copy and which will be private. This will be explained later and uses the
"cc:" carbon copy or "bcc:" blind carbon copy commands.
Furthermore, the incoming message may contain a "list:" statement. This may be
used in place of or in addition to the "cc:" and "bcc:" fields. The
server will then send copies of the message to all stations on that list. The actual list
is stored in the TSTHOST directory and may contain as many callsigns as you wish. In
addition, you may choose which of these listed callsigns receive a "blind"
message or a normal "carbon" copy. You may have as many "lists" as you
wish to cater for various different interest groups.
This makes the server extremely versatile as it saves the message sender having to enter a
long distribution list on every message he sends to a regular group of people. However, if
a new member joins the group, it is easy to send the message to him as well by entering
his callsign in a "cc:" or "bcc:" field, until such time as the main
list is updated.
The sender of the incoming message will receive a confirmation message showing all
recipients of the outgoing message, whether "blind" or not. If the sender is at
a remote BBS, the response will be sent to the system at which he entered his original
message.
Each copied message may start with a personalised greeting and this may be defined in the
incoming message or distribution list.
The server features accept and reject lists for SysOp convenience.
Works with both TSTHOST for DOS and TSTHWIN for WIN 95/98.
