EDITLBL7 (V1) Program for F6FBB BBS V7 and later

This small program is designed to manipulate the YAPPLBL.DAT file that is normally found in the \fbb\system directory of the F6FBB BBS system. YAPPLBL.DAT holds the *virtual* path and description for DOS disk files that have been titled using the FBB LABEL command.  It is these titles that are shown to users who issue the LIST command whilst within FBB DOS in the files area of the BBS.  These titles are also sent to stations who have send a REQDIR message to the BBS, provided the SysOp has installed and fully set up my advanced REQDIR, REQFIL and FNDFIL servers.  These servers are available for download elsewhere on my pages.  YAPPLBL.DAT is a binary file and is therefore not easily readable or modifiable.

EDITLBL7 will allow you to convert your YAPPLBL.DAT to an ASCII text file called YAPPLBL.ASC.  From there you may carry out changes to paths and filenames.  You may even use an ASCII text editor with "search and replace" functions to change complete batches of entries if you change locations on your hard disk or alter it's file structure.  This can save vast amounts of time compared with using the LABEL command on individual entries.

Please note that due to changes in the structure of the YAPPLBL binary file made between FBB V5 and FBB V7, this version of my program will only work with FBB V7 and later.  I have written a similar utility for FBB V5 but at present it is not on my Web pages.  If you would like a copy of this earlier program please contact me by email or packet.
