This server is designed to send any number of identical copies of an
incoming message to a variety of recipients after reception of one uniquely addressed
message to a certain server callsign. An acknowledgement message is sent to the sender and
a message is generated for the BBS SysOp advising of server operation. The generation of
this SysOp message is optional under circumstances and is fully configurable.
Any number of distribution lists may be established, each with an infinite number of
users. A list may be "open" and allow any station to submit messages, or
"closed", in which case only nominated stations may have their messages
processed. Each of these facilities is individually configurable for any list. Each copied
message may optionally contain a list of which stations have been sent a copy. This list
may be configured to be upper or lower case and is SysOp configurable for each individual
list.
Each copied message may contain an optional personalised greeting. The greeting is
contained within the distribution list for each server callsign.
Copied messages may optionally contain the original R: header line taken from the incoming
message. In addition the copied messages may "appear" to come from the original
sender. This feature will allow the use of the SR (Send Reply) command to reply to copied
messages. The SysOp may enable or disable this facility for any of the distribution lists.
Duplication of a /ACK command from an original message may be allowed or disallowed on a
list by list basis.
Footer text may be appended to each copied message. The text can be different for each
server group. All stations within the same server group are sent the same footer text.
The server is designed to work with the F6FBB BBS program and has been tested with V5.15c.
It should work with all F6FBB versions from V5.13 onwards as the file formats are the
same. Carbon will also work with FBB V7 both DOS and Windows (tm) versions. When used with
FBB V7.00g, CARBON will utilise the new INIT_D.SRV or INIT_W.SRV naming function.
