Z-Match - Version 1 Internal Construction
Notes:
- As viewed from the rear panel, the VHF section is on the left hand side, the HF section on the right. Small strips of polystyrene or perspex are positioned between each pair of VHF windings and held in place with polystyrene adhesive.
- The die cast box holds the HF SWR bridge / power meter circuit board. The VHF SWR bridge is housed in the stripline package mounted vertically just below the white front panel meter.
- The “microstrip like” VHF Tx selector switch can be clearly seen towards the top left where the ceramic wafer is sandwiched between two solderable metal plates - a single plate is used for HF switching at the top right. This technique seems to work well as long as the plates are close together for VHF and linked around their perimeter.
- Choice of coaxial connectors is left to each individual constructor
- The aerial switching has been arranged so that a single aerial with open wire tuned feeders may be used on HF and VHF
