Heathkit Modifications and Rebuilds

I like the Heathkit SB-Line “green” styling and have made a number of new units in this style as well as modifying and completely re-engineering some and the following projects show my efforts at modifying and ‘improving” some of the original designs. Some of these are relatively simple modifications and the rest are complete rebuilds in order to improve the performance in today’s crowded European band conditions.

My thoughts on aerial selection and sharing
Addition of 160m on a new band position.
Modifications and changes to overcome component ageing.
Complete rebuild on a new chassis using 7360/6AR8 mixers, additional modes and full break-in on CW with all electronic change-over, transverter and linear amplifier interfaces.
Suggested modifications to an SB104/104a.
Complete rebuild on a new chassis with 7360 mixers, all HF bands including WARC, solid state detectors and AF sub-systems, full break-in on CW and addition of FM.
Change keying system to full break-in using grid blocked keying plus an electronic T/R switch and addition of 160m.
Some suggestions for replacing broken or worn parts
A variant on the SB-630 Console
Three band transverter styled to match the SB-101
