J.M ------- Another user reports: Here is a Mod. for the "NEW" Yaesu VX-1R Ultra compact Dual Band HT. I have not yet had time to see just exactly what this mod has changed. However, I know that the Tx is expanded on VHF, UHF and and AM AIRCRAFT bands. Rx is expanded to cover CELLULAR. Remove battery. Remove 3 screws on back side of radio. Open cover. "My experience was, slightly raise edge of cover that screws held down. With a very small screwdriver, release plactic clip that secures case on edge of cover just inside of battery compartment. Be very careful to not break this clip. Carefully remove back cover. Locate two sets of jumper pads in upper left side of battery compartment near the controll knob. 0 0 "Jumper pads" Place solder across this set of pads. 0 0 "Jumper pads" Place solder across this set of pads. After these jumpers have been made, reassemble radio. While holding down the "M/V" and "AR" keys turn on radio with the "Power" button. The display will read "INIQF" Now push the "F/W" key. The display will now read "INITIAL". Modification is now complete.
