Welcome to GØWFV's home on the web!
Licensed since 1994, GØWFV is a keen member of the RAF Amateur Radio Society (RAFARS No 4662), serving on the council as Serving Members Representative and Special Projects Manager.

Also a member of the RAF Waddington Amateur Radio Club, he is currently one of only two
serving members left on the club's books!

His interests lie in contesting, occassionally representing RAF Waddington ARC in the popular UK Activity Contests, and RAFARS in t
he SSB Field Day contest (his CW is rusty at best, so prefers not to take part in the NFD!)  He also enjoys antenna building and portable operation.

An active member of the RAF Mountaineering Association,
other hobbies include rock climbing and hill walking.  He is also a qualified gliding instructor, and teaches air cadets to fly the RAF's Vigilant motor glider.

There's not
a lot on here just now, but in the mean time, why not have a look at this, or maybe even these other excellent websites ...

Founded in 1948 and the oldest of the 3 British Service mountaineering bodies, the Royal Air Force Mountaineering Association (RAFMA) is responsible to the RAF Sports Board for the sport of mountaineering within the Royal Air Force. RAFMA provides members with a variety of outdoor opportunities – hill walking, rock climbing, ski moutaineering, indoor climbing and meets in the Alps and Greater Ranges. Are you up for fun, adventure, incredible experiences and making new friends? Are you looking for something to give you the edge in life? Then welcome to the Air Cadet Organisation (ACO). Better known as the 'Air Cadets', we’re a UK-wide cadet force with more than 40,000 members aged between 13 and 20 years.
SolarHam.com

SolarHam.com is an excellent website which tracks the progress of the 24th solar cycle.  This is of interest to amateur radio operators, as the sun's activity is part of life's rich tapestry which determines how radio waves will propagate at a given time.

The solar cycle or Schwabe-Wolf cycle is the eleven-year cycle of solar activity of the sun.

At periods of highest activity, known as solar maximum or solar max, sunspots appear. Periods of lowest activity are known as solar minimum. The last solar maximum was in 2001. The solar cycle is not strictly 11 years; it has been as short as 9 years and as long as 14 years in recent years.
